unschooling

Between 2015 – 2019 I co-founded and operated an unschooling program called Grow. I transitioned to unschooling after teaching in conventional schools and becoming frustrated with how the system caused harm.

I saw Unschooling as a solution because it honors young people’s innate natural learning capacities and protects them from the “pass-fail” schooling paradigm.

In this section you will find a collection of talks and interviews that I have given based on my experiences.

During the summer of 2019 I was interviewed by Georgia Tech student Helena Weibel for a multimedia oral history project documenting the stories of parents, students, and educators on their journeys to Self-Directed Education in the Metro Atlanta area called “Schooling & Unschooling in The South”.
The interview provides a relatively detailed history of my life’s journey (pre-2019) and many of the factors that have led to me being who I am and doing the work that I do in the world.
